St Reflection 12
Question 1)
A) Why is it easy for burglars to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area?
The two markets at Kallang areas were too much of an easy target due to open ceilings. With a little help from a friend, anybody could have broken in.
B) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break ins?
The NEA and other authorities will look into improving the markets' security, even if it included changing the design of the store.
Question 2)
What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls?
Store holders should be more aware of their shop's security. Even if there was the slightest chance for any thief or burglar to break in, they would almost immediately seize the opportunity to do so, for no matter how little money is in the cashier. Also, the government should tighten security in places like markets. Burglars who break into the stalls have no sense of shame. Life as a hawker is not exactly the easiest job to begin with, yet these people still insist of stealing from them. People who do this should reflect on what they have done, who they have done it to, and why they did it. If the person really needs money, he should get a proper job, and earn some money for himself. I believe that the feeling of earning his own money is much better, compared to stealing from others.
